Our Philosophy of Care
To meet each individual resident's needs within a safe, comfortable, warm, friendly, accepting environment and encourage each resident to maintain his or her optimal level of functioning in all dimensions of his/her life.
Each resident will be assigned a physician, however residents may continue with their own physician with their agreement. Our medical director is Dr. Philip Vandewalle. Our attending physicians are Dr. Mohomad Mithoowani, Dr. Sara Puente, Dr. Jennifer Parr and Dr. Julie Copeland
Registered nursing staff (RN and RPN) are on duty 24 hours per day. Their roles are complemented by Health Care Aides who provide all necessary personal care.
All medications are prescribed by the physician and administered by registered staff. Most medications are provided without charge under the Ontario Drug Benefit Plan.
Our staff will help arrange for custom wheelchairs and other mobility devices, dentures, glasses and hearing aides. Basic foot care is provided by RPN staff as needed, advance foot care can be arranged with a podiatrist. Dental care is not provided and is the responsibility of the resident. Our staff will assist with making dental appointments and provide transportation within Strathroy.
Strathmere Lodge also offers: relaxed visiting policy, whirlpool baths, special care area for Alzheimer residents, respite care/ short stay, modern exercise room, close to Strathroy hospital
The residents council has been established to provide a forum for resident participation and encourages the sharing of concerns and ideas. The council supports and promotes resident rights, autonomy and decision making.
